COME RIDE WITH US!!!!!

November 2009 News

Fall is here and it's trail riding time.  What a great time of year to live in Michigan.  For Diane and I the show season is over and it's time to just enjoy the beautiful colors along our trails.

Our Michigan club members had a wonderful week at the RMHA International Show in Lexington, KY again this year.  The six day event was held at the Kentucky Horse Park in September.  Michigan Rockys excelled!!  If you would like to see individual class placings, they are listed at the official RMHA website  www.rmhorse.com, under Events & Programs.

We would like to start with best wishes for a quick recovery to club member Tom Mason.  Tom was injured in a logging accident.  Tom was hospitalized and has had surgery, he is now home and will require extensive physical rehabilitation.

Best wishes also for a quick recovery to club member Cheryl Nyland.  Cheryl was injured in a horse related activity and has spent some time in the hospital.  Remember what they say about falling off a horse...just get back on.

We are sure cards would be appreciated by both, check our Michigan Rocky Mountain Horse Club website for further information.   www.michiganrmh.com

This reminds me of a line that I read recently, it goes "There are only two things that a horse is afraid of.  Things that move and things that don't".  I just love that line because it is so true.

Congratulations to Diane Miller of Windkist Acres who is the Rocky Mountain Horse Association Amateur Exhibitor of The Year.   This is Diane's second Amateur of the Year Award.  Her first award was in 2007 riding her mare Dody's Pride.  In winning this year's award she was riding her 2008 International Grand Champion Outlaw Josey Wales.  This team won four RMHA High Points Awards, they also took three 1st place and one 3rd place in the Kentucky Breeder's Incentive Fund Awards.  Congratulations to Diane and Outlaw!

Diane and I have been trail riding at Yankee Springs and Waterloo Recreation Area.  What beautiful areas to ride in, hills, water, trees and beautiful colors.  We are looking forward to going again before the weather changes.  Our Michigan club also has several trail riding events from spring to fall, be sure to check the website for early spring 2010 scheduled rides.

I hope that everyone is enjoying the fall and having a good time out on the trails.  We learned first hand at Waterloo how much interest the Rocky Mountain horse generates on the trails.  We were told that our Rockys were the talk of the camp and the trails.  People really are amazed at the beauty and calm temperament of our horses at the campgrounds.  What really gets them talking is the gait !!  Folks can't get over how smooth and ground covering the Rocky Mountain gait is.

Until next month, enjoy the trails, the sunshine and our beautiful Michigan fall season.
